Here are the materials you will need to crochet this blanket:

Four ounces of Red Heart Super Saver worsted weight yarn in Petal Pink (or your favorite color)

Size J crochet hook

Yarn needle for weaving ends in and sewing the strips together

Size: 15 1/2" high x 18 " wide

Gauge: 2 rows of dc= 1 1/2"

Strip instructions (make six strips):

Row One: Chain four, join with a slip stitch in the first chain to form a ring, chain three, work (two double crochets, chain three, three double crochets) into the chain four ring you just made, chain three, turn.

Rows Two-Nineteen: Work (three double crochets, chain three, three double crochets) into the chain three space you made on the previous row, skip the next two double crochets, work one double crochet in the last double crochet (which is the top of the chain three), chain three, turn. At the end of Row Nineteen, do not chain three and do not turn.

Round One: Slip stitch into the space underneath the double crochet you just made, chain three, work two double crochets into that same space (along the last double crochet you just made, you are now working along the left hand side of the rows), work three double crochets into each of the next seventeen "spaces" along the side of the strip, work four double crochets into the side of the next double crochet closest to you on Row One (the bottom shell), work three double crochets in the bottom of the beginning chain four ring, work four double crochets into the side of the next double crochet, work three double crochets into each of the next eighteen "spaces" along the side of the strip, work one double crochet into each of the next two double crochets, work two double crochets in the next double crochet, work three double crochets in the next chain three space, work two double crochets in the next double crochet, work one double crochet in the next two double crochets, join with a slip stitch in the top of the beginning chain three, fasten off (you will have a total of 130 double crochets). Weave in ends.

To join strips: Hold two strips right sides together and using an 18" length of yarn, sew the strips together through the back loops only of the eighteen center three double crochet groups. Weave in ends.
